MOVIE PROMOTION: SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY

 

For our Deep Dive we got the challenge to create a social media campaign for the Dutch movie ‘Tuintje in mijn Hart’. We came up with two ongoing concepts and one hook for Valentines day.

 

The target audience were females between 25 and 49-years-old that love romantic comedies. Our only criteria were that we needed to use Facebook as our social media channel and focus our post on these three themes: the star studded cast with famous Dutch actors, that the movie was filmed in Suriname and that humor was a big factor in the communication with the target audience.

 

With this information we had to come up with social media campaign ideas to promote the movie. We created three concepts for Facebook posts:

 

~ Ongeschikt/geschikt interaction posts

~ Informative character posts

~ Valentines day social media hook

 

This case was created with Bonnie van den Heuvel as part of our traineeship at The Talent Institute.

INTERACTION FACEBOOK POST: GESCHIKT/ONGESCHIKT

INTERACTION POST

The first part of the social media campaign is about engaging followers of the ‘Tuintje in mijn Hart’ Facebook page. The followers need to tag whether their friend would or wouldn’t survive in the jungle. A part of the movie takes place in the jungle and it plays into the ‘humor’ focus point.

 

The ‘geschikt/ongeschikt’ (suitable/not suitable) imagery will be instantly recognized by Dutch people because this used to be a big campaign by the Dutch goverment to recruit people for jobs in defense.

 

By tagging friends, the Facebook page of ‘Tuintje in mijn Hart’ will not only reach their first level network but also reach their second or even third level network. When the engagement increases, the page and its content will be marked by Facebook as more relevant than other content resulting in content being seen more by their followers (and their network).
